Acceptable Use Policy
1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs how you may use Lattice, including its website, application, and any APIs. This AUP supplements the Terms of Service and applies to all users — individuals, organizations, and any automated systems acting on their behalf.
Violating this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of access without notice.
2. Permitted Uses
Lattice may be used for:
- Discovering and applying to legitimate campus and professional opportunities
- Posting genuine research positions, team openings, and collaboration opportunities
- Building and maintaining a professional campus profile
- Connecting with and messaging other users for professional purposes related to posted opportunities
- Managing applications as an opportunity poster
- Using Lattice's interface manually through a standard browser or mobile device
3. Prohibited Uses
You may not use Lattice to:
Fraud and misrepresentation
- Create fake accounts, fake opportunities, or fake organizations
- Impersonate professors, students, or Lattice staff
- Misrepresent your qualifications, skills, or academic record
- Post opportunities that require applicants to pay money upfront
- Operate multi-level marketing or pyramid scheme recruitment through the platform
Abuse and harassment
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Collect personal information about other users without their consent
- Share or distribute other users' private information
Technical abuse
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the platform without explicit written permission
- Introduce malware, viruses, or malicious code into the platform
- Interfere with the availability or performance of the platform for other users
- Circumvent rate limits, feature gates, email verification, or access controls
- Use Lattice in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the service
Legal violations
- Post content that infringes on intellectual property rights
- Engage in discriminatory hiring or recruitment in violation of applicable law
- Use the platform for any purpose that violates federal, state, or local law
4. AI & Scraping Prohibition
You may not use automated tools, bots, scrapers, crawlers, or AI systems to:
- Extract, harvest, or collect user data, opportunity data, or any other content from Lattice
- Train machine learning models on Lattice content without explicit written permission
- Automate interactions with the platform (liking, applying, messaging) at scale
- Create derivative datasets based on Lattice content
There is no public API. No automated access to Lattice data is permitted without a signed data access agreement. Contact legal@joinlattice.app to inquire.
5. Data Access Rules
- You may only access data that is made available to your account role and permission level.
- You may not access, view, or store data about other users beyond what is displayed in the normal course of using the platform.
- You may not cache, store, or redistribute profile data, opportunity data, or application data from the platform.
- Professor accounts may only use applicant data to evaluate candidates for the specific posted role. Using applicant data for any other purpose (re-selling leads, building candidate databases, etc.) is a serious violation.
6. Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in, at our sole discretion:
- Content removal
- Account warning
- Temporary suspension
- Permanent ban
- Legal action where appropriate
We reserve the right to investigate any suspected violation. We may cooperate with law enforcement or provide user information in response to valid legal process.
